Geol. Sophia is currently serving as the Chairperson of the Mineral Rights Board in Kenya, following the appointment by the President on 19th October 2023. She will be overseeing the responsible management and allocation of mineral rights. Geol. Sophia has over 15+ years’ experience in the Mining sector and a remarkable track record. She is committed to promoting sustainable practices and driving economic growth through the exploration and developments of mineral resources in our country. 

Having previous worked as an operations manager at Elris communications Services and a Lead Geologist/General Manager at Drilling & Prospecting International Limited, Sophia developed strong expertise in geological and geotechnical analysis, regulatory compliance and community and stakeholder engagement. 
She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from the University of Nairobi, and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Leadership Studies at the International Leadership University (ILU), Kenya.
